Network Instruments and
Cisco Systems Sign Agreement To Co-Develop Wireless Network Analysis
Tools
Minneapolis, MN - January 22nd, 2002 - Network Instruments, a market
leader in high-value, high-performance protocol analyzers and device
mapping software, announced that it has entered into an agreement
with Internet networking pioneer Cisco Systems to co-develop wireless
network analysis tools for WLAN (wireless local-area network) management,
based on the IEEE 802.11b protocol standard for wireless communications.

network analysis, expert problem identification, statistics and

Instruments.
The Network Instruments/Cisco Systems agreement pairs 802.11b wireless
protocol decoding with Network Instruments Observer 8 network analysis
software, a Windows-based real-time network monitoring and troubleshooting
tool. The co-developed product will allow network managers to design
wireless infrastructures, to identify security risks and other potential
network problems, to analyze higher-level protocols, and to manage
wireless traffic.
